Single mothers is a category that has not been given adequate attention by the legal, political, and administrative systems in the country. In a patriarchal society that judges women based on the stereotypes it has created single mothers face various kinds of discrimination even amounting to the violation of their basic human rights. Their

children also face a similar situation where there are also judged. We need a reexamining of the legal framework from the prism of feminist jurisprudence to incorporate the lived experiences of single mothers into it and also a gender-sensitive approach to policy making. And, separe policy measures and even a separate legislation are needed. The research intends to delve deep into all these aspects to ultimately contribute to making lives better for millions of single mothers and their children in the country.
